Sealed Apple

During the autumn months when the apples are in season here on the East Coast, I would go to our local orchard and purchase Gala by the bushel. A Once you get home, I like making applesauce and freezing and apple pie filling.

It's really a simple process and saves a lot of money. I take an afternoon and weekend doing a couple of hours. When buying apples, buying Bulk and check for more bad points. Keep away from apples that have been sitting in heat for a long period of time. You'll want to cut any item that you are wrong.

The following 2 recipes were donated by my grandmother back the years 1980 to date are the 2 recipes I use.

Apple Pie Filling Recipe

4.6 blocks
1 / 2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon Coffee juice

Wash apples and dry. Peel, core and cut into quarters. In a medium bowl, combine parts, 1 tablespoon sugar Coffee juice granulated. Stir gently until the apples with sugar and lemon juice. Pack in freezer bags or containers safety plastic, leaving a 1 / 2 "headspace.

Note: You can use an anti-darkening as fresh fruit instead of lemon juice.

Applesauce Recipe

4.6 blocks
water
1 / 2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Wash and core apples, then peel and cut into small pieces. Place pieces in a saucepan with enough water to prevent burns. Stir in granulated sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon. Back burner to simmer the mixture and simmer gently until apples cook and become soft. Drain the remaining water. Run mixture in a blender or food processor until consistency of applesauce. Cool and place in freezer containers leaving the security of a 1 / 2 "head space. If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon additional on top before sealing.
